General Care

Being familiar with the basics of rug care ensures that you will always be ready if a mishap occurs. Instead of panicking and maybe getting yourself in a more difficult position, you’ll know how to solve the problem promptly and with ease.

Care instructions

  • Avoid direct and continuous exposure to sunlight.
  • Rotating your rug will extend its life.
  • If there are threads, snip them with scissors instead of pulling them out.
  • Use rug protectors under the legs of heavy furniture to avoid flattening piles.
  • Expect shedding to occur within the first 3 to 6 months, it will diminish over time.
  • Never fold the rug. Store your rug by rolling its front side out and wrap in a cloth for protection.
  • Get your rug cleaned by reputed rug experts every 2-3 years. Ensure the rug is inspected beforehand and obtain a signed receipt with guarantee of work.
  • Clean spills immediately by blotting them with an clean absorbent cloth to avoid setting of stain. Ensure all cleaning products are removed and rug is dry.
  • Vacuum regularly and in different directions on a low-power setting and without a beater brush as it may cause damage.

Vacuuming

Regular vacuuming is important to keep rugs in top condition. It helps to remove any surface dirt before it can be ground into the fibers and prevents discoloration and staining with time.

Vacuuming Tips

      • Beater bars can potentially damage rugs. Use with care and only in the mildest setting.
      • Canister vacuums, brooms and sweeping and hand-held attachments are suitable for rugs.
      • Powerful vacuums are not recommended because they can pull fibers from the base.
      • Vacuum reversible rugs on both sides to prevent build-up of dirt on one side.
      • Avoid running vacuums over edges and fringes repeatedly as this can cause damage.
